7-08 Remington

The 7mm-08 Remington was legitimized by Remington in 1980 after more than two decades as a wildcat.  Designed simply by necking down the 308 Winchester to accept 7mm bullets, exterior ballistics get a boost from efficient 7mm bullets compared to  the same weight in a .308 caliber.  There is a better selection of lighter weight 7mm bullets which help reduce recoil.  This round is often chosen for compact, lightweight mountain rifles.  The 7-08 Remington seems to be at home with bullets ranging from 120-160 grains, although any 7mm bullet will work in custom settings.  This is a great round for general purpose hunting.
