This load was developed on our Ruger American Ranch bolt action rifle with 16.1" barrel.  This barrel has a 1:16" twist rate.  We wanted to add another lead free option to the line up.  Barnes bullets are known for high weight retention and deep penetration.  Using roughly 1,800 fps as a minimum impact velocity requirement, this load should perform best out to roughly 150 yards and is still carrying about 1,600 at 200 yards.  Even if a bushy round does not expand at longer distances, its still a 45 caliber hole!

We recommned this round for short range big game hunting for deer, black bear and hogs.
